FAQ
What sets UKO heaters for stock tank pools apart?
UKO heaters, made of high-grade AISI 304 or AISI 316 stainless steel, ensure durability and efficient heating, perfect for stock tank pools. Their specialized connections and design are specifically tailored for these pools, matching their size range for optimal heating performance.
Where is UKO located?
UKO is based in Lithuania, which is strategically located in the heart of the European Union. This central location offers convenient global logistics and shipping options, with delivery timelines ranging from 5 business days within the UK and Europe, to approximately 1-2 months for shipments to the USA and Canada. This makes UKO well-positioned for efficient international trade and distribution.
How do UKO wood-fired heaters operate?
UKO wood-fired heaters use the thermosyphon effect to create a natural and continuous circulation of water, enabling efficient heating through the simple principle of heat rising and cooler water sinking. This method is particularly effective for outdoor uses like heating stock tank pools, hot tubs and pools.
Are UKO heaters easy to install?
Yes, UKO heaters are designed for easy installation. The heater kit includes all necessary connections, even a drill-end, and heat-resistant sealant, simplifying the setup process. You’ll only need basic tools like a ruler, marker, and power screwdriver. Additionally, we offer a how-to assembly video, making it possible for one person to complete the installation in about 30-40 minutes. This user-friendly approach ensures a quick and hassle-free setup.

Choosing Stainless Steel for Heaters: 304 or 316?
We recommend offering both 316 and 304 stainless steel options in your product range to provide variety for your end customers. Both types excel in durability, heat resistance, and rust prevention. Opt for pricier 316 stainless steel when using chlorinated or saltwater, as it offers enhanced chloride resistance. Although 304 has lesser chloride resistance, many users now opt for chloride-free treatments, making 304 a viable and more economical choice. Your selection should align with your customer’s specific requirements, considering both environmental factors and budget, therefore having both steel types ensures you cater to a wide range of preferences and requirements.
06
Can the pool water become too hot?
We recommend using a water thermometer for accurate temperature measurements throughout the heating process. Stirring the water now and then is beneficial, as temperature levels can vary within the pool. Once the water nears 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), cease adding wood; the residual heat will slowly bring the water to an ideal soaking temperature of 39 degrees Celsius (102 degrees Fahrenheit).
Please be cautious around the heater exchange holes, where incoming water can be initially hotter before it blends with the rest of the pool. Should the water feel overly warm, cooling it down is simple—just add some cold water from a hose or toss in a bag of ice cubes for a quick temperature adjustment. Remember, soaking in water above 39 degrees Celsius (102 degrees Fahrenheit) is not recommended. To ensure safety, never leave fire unattended.
07
What safety features do UKO heaters include?
UKO heaters are designed with key safety features. The main body unit remains cool to the touch, as the inner firebox is surrounded by a water-heating chamber, ensuring the external surface only gets as warm as the water inside. Additionally, the lower part of the chimney is equipped with a heat shield for added safety. However, users are responsible for adhering to basic fire safety rules, such as maintaining a safe distance of 2 meters from the chimney to the roof or other flammable materials, and avoiding placing flammable objects near the heater.
08
Which stock tank pools are compatible with UKO heaters?
UKO heaters are compatible with Hastings original steel stock tanks and similar models. While UKO provides two heater models specifically tailored to the Hastings tank range based on water volume, it’s important to note that both heaters can technically fit all sizes. The UKO T-Square model is recommended for tanks up to 1600 liters (423 gallons), catering to smaller setups efficiently. For larger tanks, the UKO T-Round model, being more powerful, is advised as it can heat larger volumes of water faster.
09
What types of firewood are most suitable for use with UKO heaters to ensure efficient and consistent heating? What is the recommended firewood length?
The best firewood to use with UKO heaters are hardwoods such as oak, ash, birch, maple or beech. These types of wood are denser, burn slower and hotter, and produce more heat with less smoke and residue compared to softwoods. They are more efficient for maintaining consistent heat over a longer period, making them ideal for heating purposes in UKO heaters. It’s important to ensure the wood is well-seasoned (less than 20% humidity content) for optimal burning efficiency.
The recommended firewood length is 30 – 35 cm (11.8 – 13.8 in) for both UKO stock tank heater models. For optimal burning efficiency, we suggest using logs split into quarters or smaller.
10
Does the heater or stock tank pool exterior get hot?
The exterior of both the wood-fired heater and the stock tank pool metal warms up to the water’s temperature inside, ensuring it never becomes excessively hot.
